Internet Access |
Reeth has fast fibre Internet access. For more information on fibre broadband see here. The villages of the two Dales have copper wire Internet with speeds up to 6 Mb/s, but many areas have low speeds or none. Mobile Internet doesn’t exist except where provided by local pubs & hotels as hot-spots. Only EE (formerly Orange and T-mobile) exists in the Dales as 2G (‘phone & texting only) and can be patchy. No access by other networks. Reeth Rural Radio Net is a voluntary community group that provides wireless broadband connections for residents, businesses and visitors in Swaledale and Arkengarthdale. We primarily aim to provide a service to those areas which can not obtain broadband via a fixed line connection but we also serve customers in the villages and holiday visitors looking for wireless internet. Our network in Swaledale extends from Marske to beyond Gunnerside and also includes all of Arkengarthdale. We are positioning ourselves to improve our service as soon as improved broadband arrives in the area following recent government funding announcements and action from NYCC to provide broadband to 'notspots' in rural North Yorkshire. |
• The Museum, Shop & Café are open daily 10.30 to 5.30, apart from Saturdays, Easter to the end of October. Exhibits explain the development of the area from its geological foundations, via early human occupation in the Iron Age, to the growth and decline of lead mining between the 1650s and1950s. • There are many exhibits illustrating the lives and work of the Dales' people. • The 'Friends of the Museum' organise many talks and walks and produce an informative newsletter. |
|
• The 19th Century Grinton post office run by generations of the Pedley family for over 100 years has been setup in the Richmondshire Museum. • Please see the web-site for opening times and information about the many other items on display. |
